It's Donations Friday and we are sending out donation boxes this week to A rescues and some B rescues!

The Rescue Dogs of the Week are Maxine and Neo. They were rescued by Westie & Scottie Rescue Houston who has shared some incredibly important information here:

"Do you have a backup plan? Who knows about it?

We often talk to our adopters about having a backup plan for their dogs if something were to happen to them. Life is short and unexpected things happen but it’s important to know our furry friends are always happy and healthy.

Meet Maxine “Max” and Neo. Their owner knew a backup plan was important. She called a WSRH volunteer that she knew and asked if she would be her backup. Not only did the owner have a backup, she made sure her friends and family knew of the plan and wrote it down on her notepad by her phone. Recently she fell and her house was full of paramedics and anxious neighbors trying to figure out what to do. They saw the notepad and called that volunteer, who ran over and picked up Max and Neo to make sure they were safe and cared for.

When making a backup plan, think both for emergency and long term care.

•Talk with friends and family and ask at least one to be your emergency backup, someone who could take your pets right away in case of an emergency.

•Make sure everyone knows how many and what kinds of pets you have and who will be taking care of them in case of an emergency.

•Keep a note someplace visible with emergency contact information so that emergency responders (or as in this case, neighbors) know who to call. You might also want to keep a copy in your wallet."
